Multiply this figure by your home s square footage to get the amount of structural coverage you need.

In addition to structural coverage you need insurance to replace your personal possessions if they re damaged or stolen. Most homeowners policies give you coverage for your personal possessions equal to 50% to 70% of the amount of your structural coverage.
