Pet Insurance — A Good Idea!

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

Ever thought about taking out insurance to guard against pet theft? It is probably something you think most people have never needed to worried about. But that is quickly starting to change.

Statistics reveal that pet theft has overtaken mobile phone and ipod robberies to become the most rapidly growing crime in the UK. Each year, there are 50,000 dogs which are snatched from their owners. Of those victims, 40,000 had pet insurance. This sort of insurance can offer help in various ways.

First of all, the insurance pays for the costs of advertising. It also pays for the costs of offering a reward. Then, when you find your dog, it will provide the financial assistance to get the animal back home. You can claim anything from 200 to 1000 depending on your insurance policy.

Then, in the unfortunate instance that your pet is never recovered, the insurance company will pay anything from 500 to 1500 for the value of your dog, provided that the animal has been missing anything from 30 to 90 da (more...)

Disability Insurance in Depth

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

The role of a disability policy, whether individual or group, protects a certain amount of the employees salary. The insured may collect a portion of their salary once they become ill or injured, as long as their elimination period has been sufficed. Once the individual is able to return the work full time the benefits will end completely in all likelihood. It should be noted that injuries or sickness arising out of the job are protected by Workers Compensation.

The stereotypical model for a person labeled as disabled is someone in a wheelchair. However sickness can be just as debilitating as injuries from an auto accident. Some people are unaware that disability claims can include sickness, but they can.

Insurance - Understanding Long-Term Care Insurance

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

Today s seniors are living longer than ever, but as life spans increase, so do the needs for additional care. The majority of today s retirees will need some form of special care as they age, whether that help is delivered in their own residence, in an assisted living facility or at a nursing home. The cost of such care is skyrocketing and many find they are unable to afford it.

Our recent series of articles has discussed this situation in great detail, exposing the gap that exists between what seniors need and what government programs actually provide. The best way, by far, to fill this gap is with Long Term Care Insurance.

Long Term Care Insurance (LTCi) is an insurance policy that covers your care when you can no longer perform at least two of six daily functions. These activities of daily living are bathing, dressing, eating, toilet use, urine and bowel continence, and getting in and out of a bed or chair.

Each LTCi policy works a little differently. Some require you to cover th (more...)

The Most Important Person In The Room

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

While he wasn t my very best friend, his friendship was, nevertheless, important to me. For over 30 years, we had shared food and drink, baseball games, our kids soccer events and much laughter.

At his funeral, I stood at the back of the parlor hall and watched dozens of his friends pay their last respects to his family. There were many hugs, gentle kisses, warm handshakes and, of course, a flood of tears. As all those people were expressing their genuine condolences to the bereaved family, it occurred to me that I was probably the most important person in the room right then. Not in an arrogant or presumptuous sense… but in a practical one.

You see, in addition to our friendship I was also his life insurance agent. It wasn t easy because, like so many naive individuals, he resisted each time I approached him about the subject. Like many well-meaning, caring, loving husbands and fathers… he didn t want to talk about it. Not for a long time anyway. But, I didn t give up because I (more...)

Ignore Your Car Insurance - DIY Repair?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

Are you one of the many people who prefer to arrange private repair of your car after an accident? In a survey carried out by Autotrader, it was revealed that increasing numbers of people are seeking such a repair rather than risk losing their no-claims bonus.

“Why is this?” you ask. Especially as most policy providers will allow you to protect your no-claims bonus for an optional extra fee. The answer, it seems, comes down to customer satisfaction. One fifth of those surveyed said they were not happy with previous repair work carried out and level of service they received.

Is this what things have come down to? We try in vain to keep our car insurance as cheap as possible by avoiding using it whenever possible. The reality is we will end up spending more in the long run by paying a private firm to carry out repair work.
The alternative of informing the insurance company and having them carry out the work, however much it affects your premium, will most probably not be (more...)

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

Is there an attractive, confident, healthy person inside you just
waiting to get out? Do you feel like you re hiding behind a layer of fat
that is holding you back?

Millions of people feel just like you do. They feel that their life
could be better if they could only lose fat, build muscle and become
healthier.

In their quest for weight loss, they ve tried hundreds of diets, dozens
of supplements and some pretty insane exercise regimens. If you can
relate, you probably know that jumping from weight loss plan to weight
loss plan can be frustrating.

The problem with many diets is their focus. Diet gurus have you
concerned about the number on the scale, instead of the way your clothes fit.

The problem is not necessarily your weight. The problem is your fat
percentage. For example, someone who weighs 185 lbs but has 4% body fat is
in much better shape than someone who weighs 155 but has 20% body fat.
