Should Medical Students Consider Disability Insurance?

Last year the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) said that schools should require disability insurance for all medical students and provide access to policies. Medical students are particularly vulnerable to the financial hardships that may result from a disability. Disability insurance protects students from possible fiscal disaster and is also a prudent investment. Purchasing a policy while still in medical school presents tremendous advantages that can save students money after graduation, while protecting their financial future and providing the peace of mind necessary to focus on the demands of a career in medicine.

Most medical students do not generate income while in school, but instead accumulate debt at staggering rates. In 2005, medical school graduates who took out loans started their residencies with an average debt of $100,000, a figure that does not include undergraduate debt. Pets bring so much joy, companionship, happiness and love into our lives and in return for all of this the very least we can do is give them the love and care they deserve. Being a responsible pet owner comes with the decision to have a pet. These responsibilities include not only feeding your pet but a financial commitment to see to their health. Along with annual examines and vaccinations your pets may require supplements, emergency veterinary visits, medications and preventative medications.

Nothing can replace a visit with a local veterinarian when your pet is sick or hurt. There is however choices when it comes to medications needed. They are always available from you vet but can be priced quite high. Another thing to remember is the proper dosage to be given to you pet. These dosages must be followed correctly, always refer to you local vet when in doubt. Medicines given incorrectly can be harmful and even deadly to you pet.
