How To Choose The Appropriate Insurance Company

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

I believe that there are a few factors to keep in mind when choosing an insurance company. I believe that it is necessary for you to do your homework and not just go with the first company to call. With that in mind I want to introduce to you several parameters to consider when choosing your health insurance company.

The first factor to consider is insurability. In a previous article I addressed the utilization of common sense in being insurable and what makes you uninsurable. Depending on your level of insurability will determine the number of carriers that will be willing to insure you.

If you are healthy you might have scores of companies willing to extend insurance to you. The converse is just as valid. If you are sickly you might only have one or two companies willing to take on the risk of providing you with health insurance. Therefore, do your homework and find a company that will insure you.

The second factor to consider is the company s financial rating. This cannot b (more...)

Consumers are countering rising gasoline prices and other vehicle operating costs by capitalizing on lower auto insurance rates, according to leading insurers.

Auto policy costs and regulations vary significantly from state to state, but there are a number of areas that consumers are able to control and adjust to optimize prices and quality. Answer Financial (www.answerfinancial.com) has 10 tips for keeping your rates down:

Check Credit Rating. In all states except California and Georgia, an individual s credit rating is a key factor that affects auto insurances rates. Good credit will be interpreted by insurers as less risky. Thus, it s important for consumers to order copies of their credit report from all major credit agencies to ensure accuracy and to correct any inaccurate derogatory points, such as late or missed payments, maxed-out credit lines, bankruptcy, foreclosure, etc.

Affordable Health Care Insurance - More Companies are Providing Ways to Save

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

It s not easy to say affordable and health care insurance in the same sentence. They don t seem to peacefully co-exist. The relative simplicity of purchasing health insurance has all but vanished. That doesn t mean that the insurance buying public is out of options. Insurance plans are more complicated now. There are more deductibles. There are PPO S and HMO S. There are medically underwritten plans and some companies even have income based plans. There are more coinsurance combinations and varying amounts of co-pays for physician services. It sounds like the insurance companies have made things more difficult but in reality they have provided options to reduce costs.

The out of pocket expenses are increasing for the health insurance buyer. Self-insuring is what makes affordable health care insurance become a reality. There is no better way to reduce premium costs than by using higher deductibles. We used to purchase health insurance with a $100 deductible. The insurance company was on the hook imm (more...)

Understanding The Different Types Of Life Insurance

Taking out a mortgage is one of the biggest financial decisions you will ever make, therefore it is essential that you protect your life with life insurance, in case the worse should happen.

Life insurance will protect your loved ones by providing a lump sum payment in the event of your death, meaning they will not be left with financial worries. There are many different types of insurance and these are outlined below.

Level term assurance is the most basic type of insurance that you can take to cover yourself. This cover will make sure that if something should happen to you, then your loved one gets a sum of money which was determined at the outset in exchange for a relatively low premium. The policy has no cash in value and will only pay out during the term of the policy and is usually taken out alongside an interest only mortgage.

Decreasing term life insurance will decrease over a period of time in line with your mortgage. This type of cover will only pay out upon your death and i (more...)

Should Medical Students Consider Disability Insurance?

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Last year the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) said that schools should require disability insurance for all medical students and provide access to policies. Medical students are particularly vulnerable to the financial hardships that may result from a disability. Disability insurance protects students from possible fiscal disaster and is also a prudent investment. Purchasing a policy while still in medical school presents tremendous advantages that can save students money after graduation, while protecting their financial future and providing the peace of mind necessary to focus on the demands of a career in medicine.

Most medical students do not generate income while in school, but instead accumulate debt at staggering rates. In 2005, medical school graduates who took out loans started their residencies with an average debt of $100,000, a figure that does not include undergraduate debt. Only the expected future income from a career in medicine makes such exorbitant debt palata (more...)
