The first main tip is to take all nationally published advice with a grain of salt. Most insurance companies, even national ones, are largely regulated at the state level. A health insurance plan from a nationally known company will vary from state to state because of regulations and operating costs. Furthermore, your state and county may have heath plan options that are unique. Your state insurance department, county health department, and local insurance agents are great resources. If you are having a problem obtaining affordable health insurance, do not hesitate to look for help!

If your job offers a group health plan, that is probably your best option. Group health is partially supported by an employer, and probably provides more complete coverage. Some insurance, coverage, like maternity, is hard to obtain on the individual market!
