You will then submit the bill to the insurance company for reimbursement. The provider may also bill the insurance company directly and then you pay the provider for services not covered. Many people like using a fee-for-service plan because it allows them more flexibility in choosing their healthcare. There is additional paperwork involved because of the reimbursements.
